While local people in Hanh Dich commune are facing shortage of productive land, the rubber development program in Que Phong district, Nghe An province has encroached community forestland, caused disputes, tensions and further difficulties for the locality. The community has actively responded and requested for resolution to solve the problem. Local people’s requests have been heard by commune and district People's Council, and different bodies of the National Assembly. Recent movements in the commune, along with feedback from Nghe An provincial authorities, have highlighted long-term advocacy results for protecting communities' forestland rights against violations caused by the rubber business.
